Hey, Spartans! Can you believe the first week of classes is already over? You started the semester off with a bang at 1GNITE and NAV1GATE and this is only the beginning of your journey at the G. Click the image below to see some highlights from the programs!

Students that missed 1GNITE will be able to pick up their free swag and YFY Success Planner starting today, August 21 until Thursday, August 24 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Suite 202 of the Forney Building.

Rawkin’ Welcome Weeks

The fun hasn’t stopped yet! Rawkin’ Welcome Weeks continues this week. Upcoming events will feature free food, Spartan athletics games, legos, academic and professional workshops, a glow-in-the-dark dance party, and so much more! You can find the full calendar here.

Add/Drop Deadline

Monday, August 21

Per the university’s academic calendar, today, Monday, August 21, is the last day to make course changes for the semester, also known as the add/drop deadline. 

Reach out to an academic advisor if you are considering adding or dropping any courses. If you aren’t sure who your advisor is, you can contact your college or school’s advising center. Select your college or school’s name on this website to see their contact information. You can add/drop classes in UNCGenie under the student “registration” menu.

YFY Success Series

Fall is finally here, Spartans! Mark your calendar for all upcoming YFY Success Series events and stay tuned to our Instagram for important event updates and information. All programs included in the series support new students as you refine your academic skills and explore your personal purpose during your first year at the G. 

Remember, you will earn a First Year Success Certificate if you attend at least 5 events throughout the semester. Attend each event for a chance to win additional YFY giveaway items!

TraCloud

Did you know there’s an easy way to connect with helpful offices around campus? TraCloud is a scheduling and recordkeeping platform that allows students to easily connect and schedule meetings with a variety of academic support services at UNCG. Offices that currently use TraCloud include: 

• Academic Achievement Center
• Math Help Center
• LLC departmental tutoring
• Speaking Center
• Writing Center LSAMP Services
• The University Proctoring Lab
• OARS Testing Services

Volunteer & Service Learning Fair

Tuesday, August 29

The Office of Leadership and  Civic Engagement is hosting their annual Volunteer and Service Learning Fair next week on Tuesday, August 29 from 1 – 4 p.m. in the EUC Cone Ballroom! OLCE has over 50 community partners who will be present to share volunteer, internship, and other involvement opportunities for students. This drop-in event will have prizes and snacks for students who attend.

Part Time Job Fair

Thursday, August 31

Looking for a part time job on campus? Career & Professional Development is hosting a Part Time Job Fair on Thursday, August 31st from 1 – 4 p.m in the Cone Ballroom. This will be a great opportunity to learn about different employment opportunities on campus and meet potential employers. As a reminder, you can also always search job openings on handshake.uncg.edu.

Labor Day 

Monday, September 4



Offices will be closed and classes will not be session for Labor Day. Take advantage of the time off to get ahead on some of your assignments or practice #selfcare!

Have you downloaded the Spartan Safe app? The Spartan Safe app works in conjunction with UNCG Mobile. With the Spartan Safe app, you have the power of a BlueLight in the palm of your hand. First Year Connect Survey

You will receive a monthly First Year Connect newsletter, and several special editions, during your first year at UNCG. These newsletters highlight important campus events, resources, and updates you won’t want to miss! Your First Year is surveying all first-year students this semester on the helpfulness of this newsletter. For completing this survey, we will be selecting 25 students to receive a $25 gift card to the University Bookstore!
