Thank you to everyone who participated in the live First Year Forum: Getting Ready for Spring Course Registration virtual program. 


If you were unable to participate in the live program, recordings from all program sessions are now available. We highly encourage all first-year students to watch or re-watch these very helpful videos in preparation for spring course registration.

Advising and Registration


Next semester is right around the corner and it’s time to meet with your advisor to register for Spring 2023 classes! 


Steps to be Prepared for Registration:

  • Reach out to your advisor to schedule an advising appointment – your advisor’s name is listed in UNCGenie.

If you do not see an advisor listed, please refer to this list of majors to find your College or School and this list of contacts for each College and School.

  • Review the Registration Guide to learn step-by-step instructions for how to navigate the registration process.
  • Check UNCGenie to see your assigned registration window. 

Enter the Secure Area–> click Student tab–> click Registration–> click Check your Registration Status–> select Spring 2023 and Submit.

YFY Success Planner Survey and Focus Group


Your First Year is looking for feedback on the 2022-2023 YFY Success Planner. Please complete the following survey to share your thoughts and opinions about the Planner. This survey is anonymous and the information you share will be used only to further improve the YFY Success Planner for the 2023-2024 school year. 


YFY is also looking for students to participate in a focus group to provide feedback about the Planner. We will offer 3 focus group times on: 

  • November 1 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon
  • November 4 from 12 noon – 1 p.m.
  • November 16 from 2 – 3 p.m. 

Snacks and drinks will be provided during the focus group sessions. Please fill out this form to sign up and email yfy@uncg.edu with any questions.

YFY Success Series: Explore the Library

Looking for tips on how to utilize the library resources for research for your final papers? Want to know how to use the library’s website resources and other physical areas of the library? Join us in Jackson! We will be handing out YFY water bottles, cups, and more at this event!

Storm the Streets

Thursday, November 17

Meet at the UNCG Baseball Stadium 


Bring your Spartan spirit to Storm the Streets on Thursday, November 17 for the men’s basketball home opener. To kick-off the event, all Spartans will gather at the UNCG Baseball Stadium at 4:15 p.m. for a march to the Greensboro Coliseum. This year the Spartans will take on Towson!


Wear your best blue and gold. Be creative, the best-dressed Spartans will have a chance to win a prize at the spirit contest! This is an event you do not want to miss. For more information, visit: go.uncg.edu/sts

File your 2023-2024 FAFSA


The priority period to file your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) has begun for the 2023-2024 academic year. You must file a FAFSA every year for financial aid consideration, and the sooner the better. Read through these Tips for Filing the FAFSA or make a virtual appointment with a Financial Aid counselor using Starfish if you have questions about FAFSA or financial aid. 

Thanksgiving Break

Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday, November 23-25


Thanksgiving Break begins on Wednesday, November 23; be sure to enjoy some of your favorite foods and show your thanks to those who matter to you! UNCG offices will be closed November 24 – 25. Offices will open and classes will resume on Monday, November 28.
