Storm the Streets Recap

The Spartans came to win on November 10th! Over 800 students attended Storm the Streets and rawk’d the first basketball game of the season. Check out the video below to see the recap!

Thanksgiving Break

Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday, November 22-24

Thanksgiving break begins this Wednesday, November 22; be sure to enjoy some of your favorite foods and show your thanks to those who matter to you! UNCG offices will be closed November 23 – 24. Offices will open and classes will resume on Monday, November 27.

First Finals Fest

Wednesday, November 29

11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in EUC Cone Ballroom

It is almost the end of your first semester at UNCG, and Your First Year wants to celebrate this awesome milestone! This year’s theme is relaxation, and we’ll have everything from massage therapists to spring planning activities to help you take on finals and start the new year with success. Chill out with your favorite campus resources, and don’t forget to bring your YFY Success Planner to participate in a fun activity with YFY!

Last Day of Classes & Final Exams

LDOC: Wednesday, November 29

Mark your calendar
Wednesday, November 29 is the last day of classes!
Thursday, November 30, is Reading Day which is a full day for you to dedicate to preparing for final exams.
Offices will still be open, but there will be no classes.
To ensure your success, we suggest you begin studying for your finals well before Reading Day.

Final Exam Week: December 1-7

Give yourselves a round of applause because you’ve finished the semester! Final exams begin on December 1 and go until December 7.
You can view the Fall 2023 Final Exam schedule here.
Look closely because the final exam schedule is different from your semester’s class schedule.
If you have any specific class questions, reach out to your instructors for more information.

Fall 2023 Success Series Winners

Congratulations to our Fall 2023 Success Series Winners! These students attended 5 or more YFY Success Series events this semester.

Don’t forget, your events carry over into the next semester, so there’s still a chance to be a Success Series winner in the spring!

The spring Success Calendar will be released in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for what’s coming up next.

Spartan Wellbeing’s Wellness Rooms!

November 27-29

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in EUC Alexander, Claxton, & Kirkland

This season is all about self-care! Spartan Wellbeing is hosting wellness rooms in a variety of spaces in the EUC the week after Thanksgiving, November 27-29 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Each room has its own theme, so make sure you stop by each one!

Apply to be a 2023 Peer Academic Leader (PAL)!

Application deadline: Sunday, January 28 at 11:59 p.m.

Are you looking to lead at the G? The application to be a Peer Academic Leader is now open! You can apply for the role on Handshake using the job code #8391115. This is a great paid student leadership opportunity to continue your professional development and make an impact on your UNCG community! PALs support new students by serving as mentors, advocates, and teaching assistants for FYE 101: Succeed at the G, a MAC Foundations course. Click here for more information about being a PAL! Interested in volunteering with YFY? Join Spartan SPEARS! Spartan SPEARS help students navigate campus during the first two days of class every semester, and the sign for Spring 2024 just opened! If you love helping students, this is a great opportunity for you.

Do you still need to complete your MAC Foundations competency course this spring? If so, enrolling in FYE 101: Succeed at the G can help you fulfill this requirement while also fostering academic success, engaging in personal development, and connecting with the UNCG community.

2024-2025 FAFSA Update

There are some major changes coming to the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The priority period to file your FAFSA for the 2024-2025 academic year will open in December 2023. You must file a FAFSA every year for financial aid consideration, and the sooner the better. Read through these Tips for Filing the FAFSA or make a virtual appointment with a Financial Aid counselor using Starfish if you have questions about FAFSA or financial aid.
