Winterfest 2022

Academic Advising Drop-In Hours
January 10-14
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day

The Students First Office is offering drop-in advising hours for all students this week to answer questions about your schedule and help you make any necessary changes. Hours will be offered daily January 10 to 14 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information please visit the SFO website.
FYE 101: Succeed at the G 

Do you still need to complete your MAC Foundations competency course this spring? If so, enrolling in FYE 101: Succeed at the G can help you fulfill this requirement while also fostering academic success, engaging in personal development, and connecting with the UNCG community.

Add/Drop
January 14 

Per the university’s academic calendar, Friday, January 14 is the last day that you are allowed to make changes to your courses for the semester, also known as the add/drop deadline. 

Reach out to an academic advisor if you are considering adding or dropping any courses. If you aren’t sure who your advisor is, you can contact your college or school’s advising center. Select your college or school’s name on this website to see their contact information. You can add/drop classes in UNCGenie under the student “registration” menu.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday and Day of Service
January 15 and 17

UNCG will not hold classes on Monday, January 17 in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Offices will also be closed. 

The Office of Leadership & Civic Engagement (OLCE) will host UNCG’s annual university-wide day of service on Saturday, January 15. Consider volunteering to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service.
Apply to be a Peer Academic Leader (PAL) 
Application deadline: January 31 at 11:55 p.m.

The application to be a Peer Academic Leader (PAL) is open! Are you looking to lead at the G? This is a great paid student leadership opportunity to continue your professional development. PALs help new students get adjusted to UNCG by serving as advocates, teaching assistants, and mentors in a section of FYE 101: Succeed at the G. Click here to read more about the PAL role. Academic Achievement Center

The Academic Achievement Center is dedicated to helping you create your own opportunities for learning.

  • The AAC’s Academic Skills specialists help you learn strategies to improve your time management, active learning, and critical thinking skills.
  • The AAC’s Peer Tutoring helps you improve your understanding of challenging course content and is available for over 30 different courses.

Coming Soon: Honor Society Membership Invitations

If you received a 3.5 GPA or higher last semester – congratulations and be on the lookout for an email from one of our two academic honor societies for new students at UNCG. First-year students will be invited to join Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) and transfer students will be invited to join Tau Sigma. These are great opportunities for involvement, leadership, and professional development.

File your 2022-2023 FAFSA

The priority period to file your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) has begun for the 2022-2023 academic year. You must file a FAFSA every year for financial aid consideration, and the sooner the better. Read through these Tips for Filing the FAFSA or make a virtual appointment with a Financial Aid counselor using Starfish if you have questions about FAFSA or financial aid.

1/15: FASFA Priority Filing Period Closes
1/17: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Classes Dismissed
2/1: Summer Session Registration Begins
