First Year Connect newsletter which highlights important campus dates, deadlines, resources, and opportunities you won’t want to miss. This is your first edition!

The Fall 2020 Move-In Process
Move-in will be a two-stage process this fall. Residential students must sign-up for a date and time to move belongings into your room during Stage 1. Check out

Final Call for ConnectUp
If you want to sign up for ConnectUp, please fill out this quick Google form. ConnectUp places students into GroupMe groups based on common interests or hobbies. This is a great way to get to know other new students virtually before arriving on campus. There are GroupMe groups for first-year students and groups for transfer students.
Students who have already completed the Google form do not need to re-submit. Your First Year will send you an email with your group placements by the end of July. Watch the video below to learn more about ConnectUp.

Keep Texting YFY
The Your First Year texting line is still active! We will be here to help you during your entire first year at the G. Text us anytime  – you will hear back from us during normal business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

August SOAR Express Program
Be on the lookout for more information coming soon about August SOAR. This program is a required 3-hour in-person experience before classes begin for all first-year and transfer students.
Commuter students will select a date and time on either August 11 or 12. Residential students will select a date and time on August 13 or 14.
All students will receive an email in mid-July with more details.

Fall 2020 Class Schedules
Transfer students: You should contact the advising center for your college or school as soon as possible to enroll in Fall 2020 classes. If you aren’t sure who to contact, text us at 1-336-541-6939 and be sure to mention that you are a transfer student.
First-year students:Academic advisors have been working hard to create your
Fall 2020 class schedules. Be on the lookout for an email with your schedule around mid-July. Watch the video below for more information about the pre-scheduling process.

Enroll in FYE 101: Succeed at the G
You can still enroll in FYE 101: Succeed at the Gfor this fall. This course is designed to help you transition successfully to life at UNCG by connecting you with community and campus resources while developing academic success skills. We offer sections of the course for first-year students and sections for transfer students.

The Keker Common Experience  
The Keker Common Experienceis a student success program designed to help first-year students transition to life at the G. This program will empower you with the skills to find your way here and have a successful first year. First-year students will receive a Keker Success Guide when you arrive in August. During the academic year, you will engage in the other aspects of the program, culminating with an opportunity to apply for the Keker Common Experience Scholarship.

You will receive a monthly First Year Connect newsletter during your first year at UNCG. These newsletters highlight important campus events, resources, and updates you won’t want to miss!
