Interested in being an SOS?

Did you enjoy your SOAR experience and want to become a well-rounded student leader? Do you want the opportunity to show your love for the G? Apply to be a part of the Spartan Orientation Staff (SOS)! SOS show the ropes to incoming students and families on how to navigate college at UNCG. If you are interested, fill out the application on
Handshake
by Friday, October 25th. All interest sessions will take place from 5:30pm-6:30pm: October 3rd, EUC Alexander; October 10th, EUC Maple; and October 21st, EUC Dail.

Keker Speaker Visit

Jullien Gordon, developer of the Keker Success Guide, will be on campus to engage with first-year students on October 23rd and 24th at 7:00pm in the EUC Cone Ballroom. First-year students may attend either date. Jullien’s motivational talk and helpful advice will inspire you to make the most of your time in college at UNCG. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss this amazing opportunity!

Fall Break

There will be no classes on Monday and Tuesday, October 14th and 15th for Fall Break. Enjoy the break, find some time to relax, and make sure you stay on top of your assignments before you return to class. Classes will resume on Wednesday, October 16th.

Founders Day & Homecoming

UNC Greensboro was founded 128 years ago on October 5, 1892. Make sure to wear your best blue and gold on Saturday, October 5th to show off your Spartan spirit for Founders Day. Homecoming activities on October 16th-19th will include Spartan Madness, the annual Bonfire, a Block Party, and more! To find a full list of Homecoming events, visit

Academic Advising

It’s time to begin thinking about your course selections for the Spring 2020 semester. Be sure to set-up a meeting with your advisor early to discuss what classes you should take. Your advisor will give you an advising code which you will need for registration. To schedule a meeting, email your advisor directly or schedule an appointment through
Starfish
. You can double-check your advisor’s name in your
UNCGenie
account by clicking on the student tab, then clicking on the registration link. From there, you will see a link at the bottom of the page to look up your advisor.

WF Grade Deadline

Friday, October 11th is the final day to withdraw from a class without receiving a withdraw fail (WF) grade. A WF grade calculates as an “F” in your GPA. If you are considering dropping any classes, definitely talk to your advisor or an advisor in the
Students First Office
prior to October 11th.

Do you need money for college?

Tuesday, October 1st, begins the priority period to file your FAFSA (
Free Application for Federal Student Aid
) for the 2020-2021 academic year. You must file a FAFSA every year for financial aid consideration and the sooner the better. If you have questions about FAFSA or financial aid in general, be sure to visit the
Financial Aid Office
located on the ground floor of the Mossman Building. You can also attend the FAFSA 101 Workshop on Tuesday, October 1st from 5pm-7pm at the Mossman Commons, which is part of the Keker Success Series.
